My stay at Blackhill Woods Retreat was truly rejuvenating. The peaceful country setting provided a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The room was spacious and immaculate, with a beautiful bathroom and an impressive selection of books. The breakfast, served right in our room, was absolutely delicious, especially the freshly baked bread from the local bakery. I enjoyed taking a leisurely stroll around the serene native woodland surrounding the house. The highlight of my stay was the incredibly comfortable and cozy bed, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The hosts, Simon and Eilish, were welcoming and respectful of our privacy. I can't wait to return and would highly recommend this retreat to others.

The decor in the rooms was exceptional, with beautiful high ceilings and attention to detail. The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in, giving me the best night's sleep in years. The breakfast delivered to our room was delicious, especially the tasty bread. The location was serene and offered a peaceful and calm atmosphere. There was also a path to walk in the nearby forest, perfect for nature lovers.
The weather during our stay was awful, with torrential rain and muddy conditions outside. This made it a bit difficult to fully enjoy the outdoor activities.

The room was spacious and comfortable, perfect for a cozy Christmas getaway. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the linens were of high quality. The location of the property was ideal, surrounded by beautiful trees and peaceful surroundings.
The check-in process was a bit disorganized and there was no one available when we arrived. It took some time to find a hidden key to let ourselves in.

Fantastic value for money with a beautiful room, spacious, bright, and comfortable. The location was fine, nestled in the woods providing a peaceful and private retreat. The staff, especially Simon, were friendly.
Only downside was the lack of milk for tea in the room, but the friendly guests offered some from their own pot.

a peaceful break in abbeyleix; Blackhill Woods Retreat exceeded expectations with warm welcome, comfy bed, healthy breakfast, and the option for a yoga class. highly recommended!
Breakfast wasn't ideal; lack of choice, had to have it in the room, and only continental options available.

The location of the retreat is quite secluded, making it a peaceful and serene setting for a relaxing getaway. The house itself is described as beautiful, with spacious and comfortable rooms. The bathrooms are also mentioned to be large and well-equipped. Guests have praised the owner Simon for his friendliness and helpfulness. The continental breakfast, served directly to the room, is found to be a convenient and enjoyable option.
Some guests have noted a lack of choice in the breakfast options, especially for those who prefer a non-vegan diet.

The double bed had lovely soft linen, making for a cozy and comfortable night's sleep. The view from the large sash window was serene, adding to the peaceful atmosphere of the room. The owners of the retreat were very nice and struck the perfect balance between providing privacy and being open and available for any assistance. The morning breakfast, with its delicious granola and aromatic coffee, was a good start to the day. The surrounding area of Abbeyleix is often overlooked by tourists, but it is a hidden gem with its beautiful surroundings. I highly recommend this quiet escape in Ireland.
